In November 1994 he received a Laurea degree (M.Sc.) in Electric Engineering with full marks (110/110ths 'summa cum laude'), discussing a thesis concerning the Topological design optimisation of a B-ISDN network with a Tabu Search algorithm (Referees: Prof. A. Fanni and Prof. E. Costamagna). In 1995 he was a research associate with the Circuits, Fields and Systems Group at DIEE, in the field of numerical optimisation. In particular the application of Tabu Search algorithm was discussed for functions of both continuous and discrete variables. From 1995 to 1998 he has been a Ph.D. student at DIEE, University of Cagliari in the Computer Science field. He discussed his Ph.D. thesis on "Design of Multiple Classifier Systems" at the University of Salerno. In 1999, he was awarded of a post doctoral research-ship by the University of Cagliari. Since November 2000 he is a permanent faculty member at the University of Cagliari, Department of Electrical and Electronic Eng. where he is Associate Professor of Computer Engineering.
Lectures In July 2010 I was an invited speaker at the Industrial Conference on Data Mining, Berlin, Germany In February 2005 I gave a lecture on "Intrusion Detection Systems for Computer Networks" at the University of Naples, Italy
