Workshop scope and topics

The Workshop series on Variable Structure Systems (VSS) is focused on the theory and practice of VSS.

VSS'06 will take place in Alghero, Italy, and is the 9^th workshop of this series, following the past VSS’04 held in Vilanova i La Geltru, Spain.

The aim of VSS'06 is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in discontinuous control, within the general framework of automatic control theory, and to provide an assessment of recent advances and the most promising trends for future research. Integration with other control areas is welcome, and the workshop will be partially overlapped with the 2nd Conference on Analysis and Design of Hybrid Systems (ADHS’06) – (June 7-9).

Contributions are invited in all areas pertaining to the theory and application of variable-structure systems and discontinuous control including analysis, control, observation and simulation for linear, nonlinear and distributed parameter systems, and integration with other control areas.

Contributions on applications in various fields, such as robotics, process industry, transportation systems, aerospace, fault diagnosis, electrical drives, power systems, etc, are encouraged.
