VSS 2006 Authors Instructions
Authors of
accepted papers must follow four steps:

Revise the submitted paper according to the reviewers’
recommendation and taking into account the formatting guidelines of IEEE
conferences. Refer to the following SAMPLE MANUSCRIPT [PDF].

Create an IEEE Xplore
compliant PDF file of the manuscript.

Upload the camera-ready PDF
file in the VSS’06 website
-
Send us the signed
copyright form
Deadline. Camera-ready paper(s) and
copyright form(s) are due before
April 24.

Create an IEEE Xplore compliant PDF file of the manuscript.
We recommend using the PDF eXpress™ on-line tool for,
either, generating an IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF file or checking the
compliance of your own produced PDF’s.
VSS 2006 has registered for use of a new IEEE tool:

All conference articles submitted for inclusion in IEEE
Xplore must adhere to the IEEE Xplore PDF specification for compatibility.
IEEE PDF eXpress is a free service to IEEE
conferences, allowing their authors to make IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs (Conversion function) or to check PDFs
that authors have made themselves for IEEE Xplore compatibility (PDF Check function).
Steps for using PDF eXpress:
1) Create your manuscript(s). 6
pages is the maximum allowed length. SAMPLE MANUSCRIPT
[PDF]
2) Proofread and check layout of manuscript (it is highly
recommended that you do this BEFORE going to IEEE PDF eXpress.)
3) Create an IEEE PDF eXpress account (see instructions below)
4) Upload source file(s) for Conversion; and/or PDF(s)
for Checking and (see instructions below).

converted to PDF using eXpress ?
5) Attain IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF(s) (see instructions below).
The IEEE PDF eXpress website contains extensive
instructions, resources, helpful hints, and access to technical support.
How to create an IEEE

you’ll receive an error saying you need to set up an account. Simply
click “Continue”. By entering your previously used email address
and password combination, you will enable your old account for access to this
new conference. |

confirmation of successful account setup. |

still valid, and click “Submit”. |

How to upload the source
file(s) for Conversion; and/or PDF(s) for Checking

2. For each conference
paper, click “Create New Title”.
3. Enter identifying text
for the paper (title is recommended but not required)
4. Click “Submit
PDF for Checking” or “Submit Source Files for Conversion”
5. Indicate platform,
source file type (if applicable), click Browse and navigate to file, and click
“Upload File”. You will receive online and email confirmation of successful
upload
How to attain IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF(s)
You will receive an email with your Checked PDF or IEEE PDF
eXpress-converted PDF attached. If you submitted a PDF for Checking, the email
will show if your file passed or failed.

Which types of files can be converted to PDF using eXpress ?
IEEE PDF eXpress converts the following
file types to IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF:
Postscript
Microsoft
Word
Rich
Text Format
(La)
WordPerfect
PageMaker
FrameMaker
QuarkXpress*
Word
Pro
Freelance
*For
documents created in formats that do not embed source files, include all
support files with the final manuscript in a folder. Put this folder in a
compressed archive for submission. If it is possible to embed images in the
source document, you should do so to avoid potential issues, such as missing
graphics.
IMPORTANT:
A DVI (DeVice Independent file) is required for LaTeX conversions, in addition
to all associated image files. Make sure that your LaTeX system can output a
DVI, otherwise it cannot be converted. Be sure also to check that your images
are properly referenced, and that DVI can handle the image file types used (DVI
does not handle some newer image types, such as *.png).

Upload the camera-ready PDF file in the VSS’06 website
The deadline is April
24, 2006.
You must access
the upload interface
http://kalman.diee.unica.it/vss06/SubmitPaper.php
and enter your id
(the paper number) and password reported in the paper acceptance email.
The password can
be also requested by clicking on the “Send my Password” button. An e-mail
containing the password for uploading the camera-ready file is automatically
sent to the paper corresponding author address.

Send us the signed copyright form
Authors are requested to provide a signed
IEEE copyright form together with the camera-ready paper.
The deadline is April
24, 2006.
Missing
copyright form will prevent the paper from being published in IEEE Xplore.

Copyright forms can be sent electronically (via email attachment, preferred choice) or by fax according to the following Instructions.
