Abstract:
The main objective of ARIANNE is to obtain an initial assessment of a very innovative research idea, which consists in building a yarn with endowed electronic functions which can be thought as an "extended transistor". Such yarns should then be knitted, woven or processed by means of textile techniques to produce fabrics which can then be seen as complex wearable electronic networks. The project aims to assess several points which all together will contribute to the final goal: · the possibility of building up a yarn, therefore materials and technologies which are best suitable to this aim (including the possibility of developing new fibers with tunable levels of electrical conductance) · the electronic model of the yarn, seen as a "textile transistor" · the electronic model of the fabric, to evaluate its possible distributed digital or analog functions depending on the topology of the yarns.
