How to reach DIEE



Sardinia is easily reached by ferry or by air. Most international airports offer regular, direct flights during the summer months. Usually a flight at short notice provides no difficulties although we do advise our guests to book well in advance during the summer, at Easter time and during the Christmas season.
The ferries take approximately 12 hours from mainland Italy (Rome, Genoa or Livorno) to the north Sardinian ports (Olbia, Porto Torres), whereas a direct flight from Britain only takes around 4 hours.
Below, we have listed the most important port connections between Italy and Sardinia:
  • Arbatax: Civitavecchia, Fiumicino, Genova
  • Cagliari: Civitavecchia, Genova, Napoli, Palermo, Trapani, Tunisi
  • Golfo Aranci: Fiumicino, La Spezia
  • Olbia: Civitavecchia, Genova
  • Porto Torres: Genova

There are several airlines offering flights to Sardinia and most large national and international airports offer a regular service. Some airlines however do fly via Rome Fiumicino or Milan Malpensa.

Once you have arrived in Cagliari, the Engineering Faculty is easily reached:
  • from the airport:
    • by Taxi: approx. 15 minutes
    • by Bus: There is a regular bus service (approx. every 40 minutes) between the airport and the main station of Cagliari, which takes 20 minutes.
  • from the main station and from the port:
    • by Taxi: approx. 10 minuti
    • by Autobus: line 5/12. A few stops are just in front of the train station.
