DRIEI, the PhD Program in Electronic and Computer Engineering, trains student to become independent researchers in the areas of Automatic Control, Communications, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Measurements, Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, Electronics, Power Electronics and Electrical Drivers.
The program is housed within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
The length of the program is three years but under exceptional circumstances (sickness, special needs) may be extend to four. Vacations normally include a short break over the Christmas holidays and a longer one during the summer.
The core of the program consists in the preparation of an independent research thesis. Additionally, the students must also fulfill other requirements as set forth by the PhD School in Information Engineering of which the DRIEI is part.
Graduate students from other Italian Universities or from foreign Universities are welcome.
The PhD School in Information Engineering (SDII) was created in 2006 and started with the XXII cycle.
The School promotes, organizes and manages academic activities targeted to PhD students in the areas of Automatic Control, Communications, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Measurements, Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, Electronics, Power Electronics and Electrical Drivers.
The School offers a PhD in Electronic and Computer Engineering, the only doctoral program at the University of Cagliari in the area of Information Engineering.
Doctoral students earn research credits through their research activity, including scientific publications, presentations of their work at international conferences and seminars. They are also required to complete their preparation by taking graduate courses, participating in research seminars, enrolling in summer schools.
